Subject: Some Pre-South Africa Thoughts
Hey you -
How goes the trip planning? I'm so psyched for you...
So last night I get invited to this showcase for a band called Just Ginger
in
this tiny club on the Lower East Side. Show up about 20 minutes into it,
and
as soon as I walk in, I realize I'm part of something pretty special. Turns
out it was their first American gig (they're looking for a US
label/agency).
So, naturally I start thinking back of our favorite Irish band and how I
wish
I could have seen THEIR first American showcase. Anyway, turns out that
Just
Ginger (who are from South Africa....see where this is going?) are big in
SA
and just happen to be opening up for our boys in Jo'Burg! Not sure about
Cape
Town. Forget Smash Mouth, forget 3EB, Fun Lovin, even Rage - this band was
GREAT. The lead singer is a little guy with a sick voice. He also plays
guitar
and percussion. Powerhouse drummer as well. If you can at all - SEE THEM. I
don't know what will happen in a large arena, but in a tiny club....wow. I
was
quite impressed.
OK, so I'll stop blabbering on now. I hope all is well and that you
have a wonderful time in South Africa. I can't wait to hear all about it.
